Why we started ShyAktive

A brand to inspire movement and help you find your flow

We are two sisters who started ShyAktive out of a passion for movement, better health and good design.

Having engaged in sports and activities all our lives and having reached a high level in dancing, athletics, skiing and triathlon, we have spent years trying and testing what works and what doesn’t. This experience, along with our passion to help women, led us to research and design our own activewear and sports bras.

The idea was born on the Island of Maui in Hawaii over Easter 2022. It was developed on the opening weekend of the snow season in Jindabyne that same year. Also that year, Georgina took off overseas as a semi-professional triathlete to Boulder in Colorado and Switzerland where she researched brands and sought inspiration in between her training. At the same time, Caroline took in the idyllic surroundings and pace of Hawaii to inform her original designs and styles.

We felt there was a gap in the market for high quality sports bras that are natural. Intent is important to us, and we wanted to create a valuable product that also has meaning. As a result, our brand represents ‘everyday movement’. We believe in looking inwards, prioritising one’s well-being, embracing the environment and making mindful choices regarding our health and activewear. We want women to feel healthy, comfortable and beautiful.

The reliance on synthetic fabrics and dyes in clothing production across the globe is excessive. The majority of activewear is made of synthetic fabrics, such as polyester, polyamide and nylon.  The use of these fabrics and their production processes are not only unsustainable and damaging to the environment but also detrimental to our health.

With this in mind, we have created garments that proudly use natural fabrics and dyes and ethical production. They are designed with the natural movement of your body in mind. Our vision is to empower women to be both active and feminine whilst making healthier choices.
